Tempest

the raw, uncontrollable energy of nature

Behind the scenes of the creative process for the series Tempest.

“The idea behind this series was to partner with creation itself to form large, abstract pieces. This has become one of my favorite ways to create art. What you see here is me working with natural elements—such as the ocean, sediments, and plants—to develop patterns that only reveal themselves over time. Each piece becomes unique through its interaction with these elements.

I document the location, weather, and time of each creation, using that information as its title. The process is both timely and beautiful, often requiring hours of sun exposure afterward to complete the work. Occasionally, a gust of wind will carry my work into the sea, but that, too, is part of the experience.

It is through this process that I feel most connected to my creator.”

Choosing Tempest as the title of Juliette's collection communicates the raw, uncontrollable energy of nature, especially the ocean. It implies that each piece in the series captures a moment of that wild, chaotic force preserved on a surface. Each piece voices a delicate balance between creation and destruction, order and chaos—an interplay that’s often present in nature.
